Studentships are typically advertised on the departmental webpage. Applications from overseas PhD candidates are very welcome. These applicants generally need to secure scholarships to fund their studies in Oxford. Information on Graduate Admissions, Studentships and sources of funding can be found in the Oxford University Graduate Prospectus, which is on-line here.

The OxICFM CDT also offers a fully-funded DPhil programme with opportunities to undertake research projects in the Goicoechea group. Projects for 2023 entry will be posted in September.

Funded vacancies for postdoctoral research fellows in the Goicoechea group are advertised through the departmental job advert page. The links below provide details of other potential sources of funding:

Jose supervises several Part II students each year. These projects involve a wide range of topics and generally include the synthesis and characterisation of new inorganic compounds. Check out our research areas for a taste of the chemistry we work on.

The Part II project is conducted over approximately 8 months and will provide an invaluable opportunity to gain experience handling air- and moisture-sensitive materials. Developing Schlenk and glovebox techniques, a Part II project in our lab will equip you with fundamental skills and competencies employed throughout synthetic inorganic chemistry.

If you are interested in undertaking a Part II project in the group, contact Jose by email to discuss available research areas. Group members will also be available to chat to during the Part II open day in Hilary term.

The group welcomes summer research students and has hosted several in the past. Typical summer projects involve working with a researcher, exploring some exciting reactivity and cutting-edge breakthroughs in the group. Check out our research areas for a taste of the chemistry we work on.

More importantly, summer projects provide an invaluable opportunity to gain experience handling air- and moisture-sensitive materials. Developing Schlenk and glovebox techniques, a summer project will equip you with the fundamental skills employed throughout synthetic inorganic chemistry.

Summer students are encouraged to apply bursaries/grants to support their research placements. For UK students, the RSC offers several studentships for summer projects.

If you are interested in undertaking a project with us, contact Jose by email for more information.
